Behind the Scenes at the Big Christmas Press Show

Last week, we attended the Big Christmas Press Show creating a beautiful and festive stand where visitors could take a look at our Cricut machines and get a first-hand experience of making with our products.

The Big Christmas Press Show brings journalists, media and potential collaborators together to meet brands that have exciting products to share for Christmas.

Almost half of all visitors registered for the show came to spend time with us on the Cricut stand over the two days. Each one got the chance to make a project with Cricut, learn about our products and were amongst the first people in the UK to see the newly released Cricut Mug Press!

Cricut Mug Press Launch

The team was excited to launch the Cricut Mug Press and reveal that it would be available in the UK & Ireland from October 1st making the announcement live from the event which you can watch back here. Naturally, both press and collaborators alike were intrigued to see the new Cricut Mug Press work its magic and even make a mug themselves!

We also made personalised stockings, Christmas cards with the Cricut Joy, and personalised vinyl baubles. These quick but beautiful projects demonstrated how easy it is to use Cricut products and show that creating personalised gifts and home décor has never been easier.

We used two Dreamcarts from Create Room for visitors to make on. The tables were great as you can spread out with materials and machines on the desk and store lots of tools and materials in the compartments underneath too!

Winter Wonderland Decor

The stand itself had lit-up gondolas and snow-capped cabins as decorations to create a winter wonderland. And yes, these were made with our Cricut machines!

We also had a variety of projects to hand to show all the amazing things you can create with a Cricut machine. From cards with the Cricut Joy to long vinyl cuts created with a Cricut Explore 3 or Cricut Maker 3, visitors got to see a range of making inspiration.

ITV News

Not only was it great to share our products with visitors but we were filmed on ITV News too! Our very own Emma Jewell Crafts was interviewed at the stand about Cricut, the Christmas Press Show and more!

After over a year of not being able to connect in real life, it was amazing to be able to give people a first-hand experience of Cricut and share our passion with others.

Cricut Mug Press Has Arrived!

The Cricut Mug Press™ has arrived in the UK and Ireland! Create beautiful and personalised mugs for yourself or as a gift with the new Mug Press.

We introduced Cricut Mug Press a few months back and are super excited that from 1st October, makers will be able to buy it online and at selected retailers, online and in-store, in the UK and Ireland.

What is the Mug Press?

Want a new way to decorate your mugs? The Cricut Mug Press is the perfect option for creating personalised mugs with ease. Use with Infusible Ink ™ Transfer Sheets and Infusible Ink ™ Marker Pens, to create beautiful designs.

With Infusible Ink, once heated, the design becomes one with the mug itself, meaning no tears or cracks, plus they are dishwasher safe!

Simply create your design on Cricut Design Space, then use your Cricut machine to cut this out with Infusible Ink Transfer Sheets or draw with the Infusible Ink Marker Pens.

After this, adhere your design to the mug and place it into the Cricut Mug Press. Your mug needs to be either a Cricut mug or a compatible sublimation mug.

Insert your mug, lower the lever, and let the press do the rest! The advanced heat plate applies the perfect time and temperature settings, so you don’t have to think about that.

For best results, we’ve outlined step-by-step instructions in the Cricut Heat Guide.

Where can I buy Cricut MugPress?

Cricut Mug Press will be available online on the Cricut UK Shop from 1st October.

As well as your local Cricut retailers from 1st October:

9 Back to School Projects For Your Cricut Machine

It’s hard to believe how time flies! As we return for a new academic year, it’s time for a new uniform, books and stationery. What better way to get your child enthused by the new year than to create personalised items to take back with them on their first day of school.

We wanted to share some projects we have made plus some amazing creations from our Cricut community too to help get you inspired.

Labelling uniform like a pro

Batch create labels with your child’s name to put on their t-shirts, cardigans, jumpers, PE kit, and more. With Everyday Iron-onTM, you could iron your child’s name to the back of the shirt or on the clothing label.

Eye catching notebooks

Sophia from Mynotsosecretteachinglife on Instagram created a personalised bag and notebook that would stand out in the classroom. Did you know you can use iron-on material (or HTV) with card? That’s how Sophia created a matching notebook and bag!

Pencil cases that wow

We created a unicorn and space-themed pencil case as unique ideas for the first day of school. With so many images available in Design Space, almost anything is possible when creating your pencil case design.

Want to keep it simple? No problem, instead of images, use your kid’s names for a fun alternative to a plain pencil case.

Personalised bags

We love these named backpacks by Aurora.creations.x on Instagram. If you need some backpack inspiration, take a look at our recent blog post here. It includes many back-to-school projects from Design Space, including backpacks!

If your kids prefer a tote bag to store their books, they may love a personalised design like this mer-mazing project by Natscraftylife on Instagram.

Personalised Classroom Ideas

Not only do parents have to prep for back to school but teachers do too! We have seen some amazing ideas in the community of unique ideas for the classroom.

Teacher desk décor

Allthatisteaching from Instagram shared her personalised desk that she decorated with vinyl. It’s such a great idea and makes the classroom unique to the teacher.

Pencil cases are always a must-have for a teacher, so why not make it personal to you! We love this teacher-themed pencil case by Cocoandblue2 on Instagram.

Reading Pillow

Another great idea is to personalise a reading pillow for the classroom! Lots of classrooms have a reading corner that would be perfect for this project. Scottishteacher on Instagram showed hers ready for the new school term to begin.

If you need more ideas, our latest blog all about the back-to-school projects available in Design Space would be perfect for you. Read more here.

Tiki vibes

Perfect for Rum Day, these tropical Tiki-themed glasses are a doddle to make. Simply duplicate the project in the mat preview screen to make enough for your glasses. You could even make a tray to match too.

The art of tablescaping

Instagram is awash with images of beautiful tablescapes making an event of even the most mundane Sunday brunch. Here, we’ve put together our top tips for nailing this trend.

What is tablescaping?

It’s way simpler than it sounds. Tablescaping is simply the act of creatively decorating your tabletop. Traditionally, you’d have seen these beautiful table settings at events and weddings but these days, even a casual meal with friends can be reason enough to dress to impress.

You’ll see lots of celebrities like Laura Jackson and Fiona Leahy adding charm to their dinner parties by adding creative touches to their tables. But with a bit of imagination and a touch of DIY, you can get the look at home for a fraction of the cost.

Here are our top tips for stunning tables:

  • Pick a theme / Find your inspo

Is it casual-chic, stylish-spook, Autumn-harvest or Winter-sparkle? There’s lots of ways to be inspired, whether it’s a colour, an occasion, a season or a place. There are loads of ideas that have been shared on Pinterest, so this is a great place to get started!

  • Make the most of what you have

Find playful new ways to repurpose things you already have in your home. Like giving your old white tablecloth a new lease of life by dying it with tumeric or adding some iron-on vinyl to napkins for personalised name settings. You could also go on a nature walk to collect pinecones or pick some fresh flowers from your garden. Sometimes the best things in life are free.

Things you might need:

Level 1- the basics: Dishes, silverware, glasses, napkins and a tablecloth

Level 2 – the décor: Candlesticks, flowers and garlands

Level 3 – the extra touches: Anything from pumpkins and fruits to mirrors or trinkets

  • Upcycle or recycle

Grab those empty jars and pots, some paints, yarns or vinyl and start decorating. Or if you find your table is still missing something, head to a charity shop. They’re filled with all sorts of treasure that could be perfect for your table but won’t break the bank.

5 ways to DIY your table with Cricut

Add some height!

The best decorations don’t always have to be on the table. Create decorations to hang from the ceiling for that extra wow-factor. Rosette fans and banners are a perfect choice and all you’d need is your Cricut, some card, glue and string.

Get crafty with your table settings

It’s all in the extra-finishes, and who doesn’t love a table-setting keepsake to take home with them? Grab some napkins and turn them into a personalised masterpiece using iron-on vinyl.

Add the finishing touches

Add some feature points to your display, like these huge paper flowers or a showstopper centrepiece. Or why not temporarily update your tablweare by adding a removable vinyl snowflake. Guide to Cricut Smart Materials

You may have seen that the latest and greatest Cricut Machines – Cricut Maker™ 3 and  Cricut Explore™ 3 – are compatible with Smart Materials™. But what are Smart Materials and how do you use them? We’ve compiled this guide to Cricut Smart Materials to help you understand more about these clever Vinyl, Iron-on and Paper products. (If you haven’t met Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore 3 yet, you can find out about them here.)

What are Smart Materials?

Cricut Smart Materials are consumables that are designed to feed directly into your Cricut Maker 3 or Cricut Explore 3 machine without a mat. The latest and greatest machines in the Cricut Maker and Cricut Explore families — Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore 3 — have more processing power, more memory, and more powerful motors. These enhancements were all designed to drive Smart Materials accurately, at high speeds, and to keep them perfectly aligned, even for your most intricate cuts.

Introducing Cricut Maker 3

Just feed your choice of Smart Vinyl™Smart Iron-on™, or Smart Paper Sticker Cardstock™ into the machine guides, press the Load button, and the machine takes it from there. As there’s nothing to prepare, you can concentrate on the best part — making.

No Longer Limited by the Mat

Before Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore 3, cuts were limited to the size of the mat, the largest of which is 12 in x 24 in (30.4 cm x 60.9 cm).  Now you can cut beyond them mat with a single image, or repeated images, up to 12 ft (3.6 m) in one go! No more slicing your extra-long birthday banners, wall decals & so much more.

Cricut Roll Holder

When your materials are 13 inches wide, you’ll need tools that are up to the job. The new Cricut 13 inch trimmer is available individually or as part of the Essential Tool Set so you can be sure that when you trim your smart materials they’re clean and precise, ready for loading into the machine for your next cut.

Cricut 13 inch trimmer

As for Transfer Tape that is longer now too, so you can easily transfer those extra-long projects without a hitch. You’ll find some handy hints and for applying Smart Vinyl with Transfer Tape here

Tips and Tricks for Smart Materials

Follow these tips to get perfect results from your Smart Materials:

  • Align the left material edge with the left material guide on the machine. This step is crucial when cutting more than 3 ft (0.9m).
  • Keep your scraps! You can cut leftover Smart Materials on a mat.
  • To get the most out of your Smart Vinyl, create a cut box around your image. Once cut, only weed the area around the image. This leaves the backing in place, so it is still wide enough (13 in or 33 cm) to cut your next project without a mat.
